Advertising Week’s first live audio stream – The Short Stack

Edition 15

Friends,

Remember the mind-blowing data reveal at AudioCon (part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival) in 2021? I do, because it was all anyone in advertising/audio could talk about for weeks.

WARC released a report at the show that documented a massive disparity between audio listening (then roughly 31% of all media consumption) and ad budget allocation (then around 9%). The data was a blaring wake up call for media buyers to start shifting more ad dollars toward audio.

But I'm not bringing it up to make a case for audio spending. My point is that big revelations often come out of big events, and being there for moments like that can be kind of amazing. On the other hand, if you get blocked out of a packed session or just can’t attend the show, it can kind of suck.

Attendees of Advertising Week, currently winding down its London show, have surely at some point felt the FOMO. There’s always a slew of great panels and conversations, many of which are so popular you just can’t get in. I’ve felt it first hand. So when the event’s creators came to us to help build a “next-best” experience – in the form of a live streaming audio station you can listen to before, during, and after the shows – we were more than happy to oblige.

Now, compliments of our subsidiary Live365, you can still experience the killer keynote via the Advertising Week station in their show app and not hate yourself for losing your place in line because you needed brownie energy. The station will run year round with show content, AW podcast episodes, music, and a lot more.

Great industry events, at their best, can do a lot – entertain and teach us, connect us with friends and partners, plant us in awesome cities (like London) for a few days. They can also put you in a moment in time when something big is revealed. Here’s to making those moments easier to experience for everyone.

Learn more about the AW station here, and happy spring summit season to all.
